September 2023 ~ Honoring Fire Prevention Specialist Bob Kleinheinz upon 10 Years of Public Service ~ proclaimed 9/5/2023

Specialist Kleinheinz started his career with the Lake Zurich Fire Department on July 15, 2013 to bookend his 40 years of service in the American Fire Service.  The Village of Lake Zurich recognizes the contributions Mr. Kleinheinz has made to the Lake Zurich community.  Proclamation

The Village of Lake Zurich supports the goals of the Safe Boating Campaign and proclaims May 21 - 27, 203 as National Safe Boating Week and start of the year-round effort to promote safe boating.  Proclamation

March 2023 ~ Honoring Division Chief Wenzel upon 31 Years of Public Service ~ proclaimed 3/20/2023          

Lake Zurich recognizes the contributions that Division Chief Wenzel had made to the Lake Zurich community during his successful career.  Division Chief Wenzel retired from the LZ Fire Department on March 3, 2023.  Proclamation

October 2022 ~ World Polio Day ~ proclaimed 10/17/2022

The Lake Zurich Rotary Club has been a fervent supporter of global polio eradication for many years, working to raise funds and contribute countless volunteer hours to children around the world. Mayor Poynton proclaims October 24, 2022 as World Polio Day throughout the Village.  Proclamation

Mayor Tom Poynton declares the week of October 24-28, 2022 as Red Ribbon Week in the Village of Lake Zurich and encourages all residents to work together prevent substance misuse.  Proclamation
 
September 2022 ~ Suicide Prevention Awareness Month ~ proclaimed 9/6/2022
With an average of 123 suicides every day in the USA and national suicide rates increasing significantly since 1999, Mayor Poynton encourages all residents to take the time to check into the well-being of their family, friends, and neighbors as he proclaims September as Suicide Prevention Awareness month in the Village of Lake Zurich.  Proclamation

May 2022 ~ Emergency Medical Services Week proclaimed 5/16/2022
The Lake Zurich Fire Department responded to 2,905 calls for EMS services in 2021, arriving quickly to provide lifesaving care to those in need 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We recognize the value and accomplishments of these first responders and designate May 15, 21, 2022 as Emergency Medical Services Week.  Proclamation
 
May 2022 - Mental Health Awareness Month proclaimed 5/16/2022
450 million people worldwide suffer from some form of a mental health condition and 1 in 10 adolescents report feeling socially isolated. As a community, we can make a difference in helping end the silence and stigma that has for far too long discouraged people from seeking help. Mayor Poynton proclaims May 2022 as Mental Health Awareness Month.  Proclamation.  
 
April 2022 ~ Life Saving Awards ~ proclaimed 4/18/2022
On March 2, 2022, Mr. Casey Komperda was in cardiac distress. Fortunately, he was assisted by Miss Alex Schroth and Mr. John Hintermeister, who were both nearby and immediately began high-quality CPR on Casey. Due to these life saving actions of Alex and John, Casey is on the road to complete Post Cardiac Arrest Recovery. Alex Proclamation.   John Proclamation.

Trees reduce erosion, cut heating and cooling costs, moderate the temperature, and provide habitat for wildlife. Village President Poynton hereby proclaims that Arbor Day be observed in Lake Zurich on April 29, 2022.  Proclamation

After 35 years of public service in the Village of Lake Zurich Public Works Departments going back to 1986, Maintenance Worker Bob Wojcik is retiring.  Proclamation

September 2021 ~ Honoring Terry Johnston for 30 Years of Public Service ~ proclaimed 9/7/2021
The Village of Lake Zurich honors Fire Captain Terry Johnston upon his retirement from the Lake Zurich Fire Department after 30 years of public service. Captain Johnston officially retired from Lake Zurich on August 26, 2021.  Proclamation

Mayor Poynton has proclaimed the last week of October 2020 as Red Ribbon Week in Lake Zurich to demonstrate a commitment to healthy, drug-free lifestyles and in honor of undercover DEA agent Enrique "Kiki" Camarena who was kidnapped, tortured and murdered by a drug gang in Mexico in 1985. Proclamation
