Whitney Road Notice 12-12-25

Beginning Monday, December 15th, Whitney Road at Route 22 will be closed to allow the removal of the existing pavement. Over the following days, crews will grade the area, drill and install rebar, place the preformed loops, and pour the new concrete pavement, which will then be blanketed for cold-weather protection. A lane closure on Route 22 will remain in place during this work until the concrete is poured late next week. Once the pavement is poured, the westbound through lane on Route 22 will be reopened.

Whitney Road is expected to remain closed for approximately three weeks to allow the concrete to cure per industry standards. During this closure, residential access to Lake Zurich Drive and Whitney Road will be through Paulus Park.

Main St. Sewer Lining Notice 3-25-25

Typically, each section of sewer to be lined will require up to twelve (12) hours to complete, generally between the hours of 7 am & 7 pm.  During portions of this time, the sewer connection to some homes will be sealed off.  Homeowners will be asked to make limited use of toilet facilities and refrain from doing laundry until the service connection can be reestablished.  Additional precautions residents can take during the period of service interruption include keeping toilet lids down and pouring 1-2 cups of water into basement floor drains to keep any odors from entering the home (this recommendation can be done regularly

What is the Main Street Streetscape Project?

  • The Village is proceeding with a redesigned streetscape at the lakeside Promenade that features a landscaped median, new on-street angled parking, and a pedestrian crosswalk.
  • Sidewalks will be widened and the street will be narrowed for most of Main Street, promoting slower speeds for vehicles and expanding the public right-of-way to encourage businesses to install more outdoor seating.
  • The parkway along Main Street will be transformed with permeable brick pavers, planter beds with over 14,000 perennial plants and 40 new trees, decorative ambient lighting that provides a warm cozy feel along Main Street, and new street furniture.
  • As part of Lake Zurich’s commitment to green infrastructure, the Village is also installing an eco-friendly bioswale near Main and Mionske.
  • The centerpiece of the project will be a decorative custom brick compass emblem at the intersection of Old Rand and Main Street, symbolizing the interconnectedness at the heart of the Lake Zurich community.
  • While we are at it, the Village is also going to replace thousands of feet of aging water and sewer lines and install stormwater management upgrades. After all this, Main Street will be fully reconstructed with fresh pavement.
  • The Main Street streetscape project will stretch almost the entire length of Main Street from the lakeside Promenade to the CN rail tracks to the east.

What is the project timeline?

  • Construction will start in April and continue into autumn months. Crews will move as quick as safety and weather allows, with the final step of Main Street resurfacing to take place at the end of October. Two Main Street events, Alpine Fest and Rock the Block events will take place in 2025.

Will Main Street businesses be impacted?

  • Yes.  Construction this summer will temporarily disrupt the Main Street District, but the long-term benefits will cultivate a deep sense of community pride, enhancing the vibrancy and appeal of Lake Zurich. During certain construction, Main Street will be restricted to one-way traffic, closing one lane at a time. At other times, Main Street will be closed to thru traffic while allowing access to local businesses and homes. Your customers are encouraged to find alternative nearby parking when construction is happening in front of your establishment.  Please call Village Hall at 847-540-1684 to inquire about Main Street District parking options.
