Explorer Post 2

Lake Zurich Law Enforcement Explorer Post 2 has offered the opportunity for young people from the community to learn more about a career in law enforcement for 20 years.

Each explorer in Explorer Post 2 is required to attend monthly meetings and to respond to details to assist the community by directing traffic or performing other service-related tasks. Additionally, explorers may choose to participate in the Ride-Along Program where explorers ride with patrol officers and assist them with their daily activities.

Explorer Training


Explorers receive training in more than 40 topics including:
  • Traffic direction
  • Traffic stops
  • Writing police reports
  • CPR
  • Domestic disputes
  • Officer rescues
  • Leadership
  • Use of force
Explorer Post 2 teaches leadership and responsibility while giving its members the opportunity to serve their community. Explorers assist with more than 30 special details each year including:
  • Alpine Races
  • Triathlon
  • Main Street Classic Car Show
  • Fourth of July Celebration
  • Special Olympics
  • Polar Plunge
  • Parades
