Tornados can occur any time of the year in Illinois, but the prime months are March through June. Spawned from powerful thunderstorms, tornados can cause extensive damage in a short time. The Village of Lake Zurich has six Emergency Outdoor Warning Sirens located throughout the Village. Emergency Outdoor Warning Sirens are not designed or intended to be heard indoors. Residents, businesses, and those traveling in the area should monitor local radio and television channels during any weather watch or warning and prepare to move to an area of shelter if necessary.
